Pirate Athletics

Our GOAL: To play our best game, to win, and to improve.
Our PURPOSE: To Respect Ourselves, Others, and Our Environment – to be risk-takers, communicators, principled, reflective, knowledgeable, balanced and caring.  Our purpose is to engage students in school, to connect them to a team and a coach.  Our purpose is to encourage and improve the character of our athletes.

Pirate Families,

Please see the message below regarding middle school athletics for the fall semester. We miss working with your student-athletes and value the tremendous impact sports has on student development. We will be ready to go as soon as health conditions permit!

We have decided to pause middle school athletics at this time with the goal of hopefully offering a modified season for all ten sports after the holiday break beginning in early January. This decision follows weighted discussion over the needs of student-athletes, logistics of the middle school sports program, pandemic-related health recommendations and careful review of CHSAA, State of Colorado and Larimer County guidance. Our district will continue to monitor public health reports for guidance in assessing future sports activities during the upcoming academic year.

While we are deeply saddened by the pause of interscholastic athletics during this time, we know that the number one priority for everyone is the health and safety of our students and staff. Sports is a vital outlet for many of our students which encourages them to make positive choices and provides an avenue for a brighter future. In this regard, we appreciate the ongoing efforts of student-athletes, coaches, athletic directors and all stakeholders across our program to embrace and champion physical distancing and safe practices. We are inspired by your acts of generosity, kindness and compassion and continue to be inspired by your messages of hope.

The PSD athletic department is committed to supporting and reimagining the experience for student-athletes during these unprecedented times. We will continue our efforts moving forward to be champions of health and safety in our schools and communities, while strategically and safely preparing a return to in-person operations. When the time comes for us to return to action, we will do what we do best-provide meaningful opportunities for our students to excel and bring our community together. We will be providing potential future plans soon and I want to thank all of you and especially our student-athletes for your resiliency. We wish all the best to you and yours.
